The BALL Board of Directors, in partnership with District 4 Little League, have continued to review and evaluate baseball in the Beaverton-Aloha community. It has come clear in recent years that change was needed in Little League to continue to grow our sport in our community. BALL, like many other local little leagues, continues to see a decline in registration numbers, specifically at the higher levels. As registration numbers have gone down, we have also struggled to field enough coaches to cover all our teams.
BALL and Murrayhill Little League have worked very closely with each other over the past few years to help work through many of these problems. This fall the two boards worked together and petitioned Little League International to merge the two leagues together. We are excited to announce this past week Little League approved the merger.
While full merger details are still in the works, the combined league will be known as “Murrayhill Little League.” A new board of directors was created with the merger, directors from both leagues were placed on the new board.
This change means several things. For one, the arbitrary lines that previously divided MHLL and BALL are gone, meaning that all of us will have a greater opportunity to play baseball with more of our friends and neighbors. This also means that the merged league will have a greater ability to pull from the resources of a larger community, including more THPRD fields, sponsors, volunteers, coaches, and, of course, baseball players. This is an exciting opportunity to make both leagues bigger and better than they were individually, and we are committed to continuing to put a fun and competitive brand of baseball on the field.
Soon you will start receiving communications from the new Murrayhill Little League Board of Directors as preparation for the spring 2022 season is underway.
